Ease Cramps More Effectively with a Massage

In all my years on this earth, I have only had one massage! Now that I know the many benefits and history of massage, I'll be looking forward to a series of massages. It is an ancient form of healing and ways of relaxation and rest. It is found in to ancient cultures. Records of different massages go back through the ages in all parts of the world to many ancient civilizations.

The art of massage is the manipulation of superficial layers of muscle and connective tissue. This is to enhance function and promote relaxation and well-being. It became popular in the US in the 1800s and grew in popularity until the 1930s and 40s.

With the development of modern medicine, it was discounted as lesser than. It made a re-appearance in the 1960s and 1970s when nurses began to use it to alleviate pain in patients. In the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta massage was deemed a core medical service and its popularity rose again.

The word massage comes from the Latin word friction", as well as from the French word meaning friction or kneading", and the Arabic word “massa" meaning to touch, feel or handle. I am always interested in finding out the origin of words, and to me this was fascinating, as each culture derived its own word and meaning.

There are many ways of having a massage done. There are also many types of oils, seeds etc that can be used. A person receiving a massage may be on a mat, chair, or table, usually without clothes, but covered with towels or sheets. If one is uncomfortable with this, he/she may wear underwear.

Some massage therapists use oil, or even, body rocks! Different oils can be used to stimulate blood flow and relaxation along with a variety of other benefits. A body rock can be either cold or warm and coated in different sorts of oils such as fractionated coconut oil, grape seed oil, olive oil, macadamia oil, sesame oil, pecan oil and mustard and aromatherapy oils. What a variety of seemingly unusual remedies

This is not the extent of the variety of massages and remedies that are available. As well as a plethora of oils, there are many body parts used to give a massage. A massage can be applied by using the masseuses hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearms or feet. Yes, feet! You can be walked on by someone, and, if done properly, it can feel good.

Anyway, one must find one's favorite type of massage. Not only are there many ways and oils, but it can be cultural. It can be an international experience. You may find that Lomi Lomi massage in Hawaii, Samoan, Shiatsu, Thai or even Chinese massage suits your needs. If not, then maybe try Swedish massage, which, incidentally in Sweden is known as classical massage.

Whatever method of massage you choose, it can help relieve pain, anxiety, depression and a variety of diseases. There is no way to blind-test massage therapy, as the person being tested is going to be touched, and we cannot deny that the sense of touch is very therapeutic by itself. Be sure to try it out and find what type of massage works best for you!

Hot Stone Massage Relieve Muscle Spasms Faster

We all know the healing powers of heat and the sun. When we go to the beach, the hot sand feels great on our muscles and bones. There is a therapeutic way to get the benefit of this feeling, without all the sand. It feels even better. It isn't anything new! It's hot stone massage. I was a little cynical when I first heard about and was reluctant to try it. However, when I first had one, I was hooked.

This will be done by a professional and is very sanitary. Your masseuse will keep the stones in boiling water. This is done in order to avoid bacteria growing on them. They will be removed using a glove or another sanitary tool when they are required in order to give the massage.

What type of stones are used? Well, they are basalt, smooth rocks which have been used throughout the ages, as they are believed to have energizing properties. They also retain heat very well. Other types of massage use other types of tools, as well as the hands of the therapist.

The hands are the other tools used when giving a hot stone massage. It is much easier on the hands of the therapist than regular massage, as he/she doesn't have to use his/her hands to apply pressure - rather the stones and pressing on them cause pressure. The sanitized warm stones are laid on either side of the spine, while other stones are covered with warm oil and rubbed on the clients legs and arms. For me, this is luxurious. I don't require much pressure, but my husband, whose muscles have deep ache, requires as much pressure as is possible. This is why this type of massage suits him. Nothing like a customized massage.

Massage therapy became popular in the US in the 1800s and grew in popularity until the 1930s and 40s. The development of modern medicine discounted its benefits, and use dwindled. It made a re-appearance in the 1960s and 1970s when nurses began to use it to alleviate pain in patients. In the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta massage was deemed a core medical service, which gave it great credibility.

Many (about 90,000) people in the United States claim massage therapy as their part-time or full-time job. Most are self-employed. A large percentage of these workers are of part-time and self-employed workers. Most states in the United States require some sort of a license to practice massage therapy. If a state does not have any massage laws, then nothing is required and a practitioner need not apply for any sort of license with the state. To train in the US where a license is required it involves 500-1000 hours in length, resulting in a certificate, diploma, or degree depending on the particular school. Go ahead and try hot stone massage. You'll love it.

Head Massage Ease Aches Faster

Are you stressed? Do you dread returning to work having had a nice relaxing weekend? Even though you are happy to have a job, it can be awfully stressful in the workplace. You wish for some sort of relief from all of this (short of a two-week vacation to Hawaii!). Ever thought of a head massage?

Care to learn more? Head Massage is a term used to describe alternative medicine remedy therapy. A head massage is believed to clear blocks in energy channels that cause a build-up of negative energy that cause a variety of ailments. When energy doesn't flow properly, it can cause baldness, stress, pains, and aches.

Have you ever had any type of massage? Do you think this is something new? No, it is not a new medical breakthrough, this art has been practiced throughout the world. Chinese records dating back 3,000 years document its use; the ancient Hindus, Persians and Egyptians applied forms of massage for many ailments; and even Hippocrates wrote papers recommending the use of rubbing and friction for joint and circulatory problems. Massage is the manipulation of superficial layers of muscle and connective tissue.

In the early 1800s, massage therapy became very popular and this increased until the 1930s and 40s. As modern medicine developed, the benefits of massage therapy were discounted. It was used less and less.

In the 1996 Summer Olympics massage was deemed a core medical service, this gave it great credibility. Head massage, or champissage is practiced all over Europe and was brought to the US in the 1970s.

So many nerve endings and so much of our nervous system is in our heads. Generally a massage can help different areas of the body. Well, it's the same with the head. If you have a headache, try head massage. This type of massage (also known as Indian head massage) is offered at most salons and spas, or can even be done at home.

In a salon, you will be seated in a chair and the massage technician will give you a luxurious head massage. Unlike many massages, you will remain fully clothed if you go for the option of a no-oil massage. If you want oil, you can choose to wear something to protect your clothing

Do you feel the urge yet? It has benefited many. My father went for a head massage to treat his tinnitus. If nothing else, you will be relaxed and uplifted. With this positive energy flowing, you know you will feel better. You will sleep better which will help you with concentration in every-day tasks. Your blood and lymph circulation will improve. Just head over to your local spa, talk with a masseuse. You will surely feel better!
